What is Healing Touch?

Healing Touch is a biofield therapy that is an energy healing therapy used to support the self-healing and wellbeing of a person.  Healing Touch (HT) is a complement to conventional health care and is used as an integrative approach to health and healing.  Healing Touch can be used as a stand-alone method for general self-care.  And it is used in conjunction with medical and mental health concerns where the person is under the care of a physician or other health-care provider.

It is considered an evidenced-informed or evidence-supported practice. It is cited as a mind-body intervention/therapy by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine (NCCIM), a division of the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Overview

So, what is healing touch, exactly? HT uses a safe touch that influences the human energy system. The human energy system impacts the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual levels of health and healing. The goal of HT is to restore wholeness through harmony and balance within the human energy system. This, in turn, places a person in a position to self-heal.

HT uses safe, non-invasive touch to influence a person’s human energy system.  More specifically the human energy field that surrounds the physical body and the energy centers that control the energy flow from the energy field to the physical body.

HT is a curriculum of study and is made up of more than 20 non-invasive energy healing techniques. Each technique uses an intentional process that helps to clarify, energize, and balance the human and environmental energy fields. This affects the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and healing of a person.

The trained HT Practitioner offers methods with a compassionate professional presence to facilitate a person’s energetic healing.

HT is a conscious, intentional process that involves an grounded, eyes-open approach to support a client. A HT practitioner directs universal energy to the client to support the client’s natural self-healing process.

Goal

The goal of HT is simple yet powerful.  It’s to restore harmony and balance within the client’s energy system. By doing so, it places the client in a position to self-heal.

HT has extraordinarily effective results. It’s been well-researched and is considered and evidence-informed practice.  HT is used in many hospitals and private practices around the world as an additional or stand-alone treatment technique by certified Healing Touch practitioners.

What is Healing Touch? HT is considered a mind-body intervention/therapy by the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) division called the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine (NCCIM).  It has been and continues to be endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Association since 1997. It is taught in hospitals, universities, medical and nursing schools, massage therapy schools and in other settings both nationally and internationally.
